Nearly every ad you see on TV or hear on the radio needs a voice actor — someone with great voice quality and the talent to use it. Peter Barto has both of these, and I thank him for asking me to redo his website.
My philosophy for this site, as with many sites I design, is clean simplicity. Other voice actors in the San Francisco bay area mostly have similar, standard-looking sites, so I made sure Peter’s site stood out, and having plenty of negative space achieves this while looking beautiful.

Because a voice talent needs to show off his work, I included HTML5 video and audio players on two pages so that people can see and hear his work. These players work on modern desktop browsers as well as older desktop browsers, and even on mobile devices and smart phones and iPads.

I use a WordPress backend for this site so that Peter can make some changes to the content himself.
Google and Bing prefer sites with great content, not sites with keywords obviously stuffed all over the place. I follow their best practices for Peter’s site, with words picked to make it easy for visitors to see what Peter does. At this writing, I can see Peter’s site moving up Google just a month after launch, and I’m happy about it appearing on Google’s fifth page for the search “san francisco voice over talent” at the time of this writing, and I expect it to show up on page one for that search before too long.
